Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Comets vs. Chariton Chargers

The Cardinal Comets will face off against the Chariton Chargers on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cardinal 3, Chariton 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

If Cardinal beats Chariton with six runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Comets never let Interstate 35 get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Saturday. Considering the Comets have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Central Lee typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Chariton proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Hawks 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Chariton pushed their record up to 24-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cardinal, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Everything went Cardinal's way against Chariton in their previous matchup back in June, as Cardinal made off with a 13-3 win. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
