Basketball Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Lakeland was the 86-45 winner over McKeel Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Dreadnaughts were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 61-60 to the Wildcats.

McKeel Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deion Drone, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Drone a new career-high. Michael Sams III was another key player, going 8-for-18 to rack up 22 points and five assists.

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for McKeel Academy, their record is now 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will welcome Wesley Chapel at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McKeel Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mulberry at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
