Baseball Recap: Boone Grove's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Boone Grove waltzed into their game on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Griffith Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Javy Carrera made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carrera was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Ben Truby and Seth Pitcock did most of the damage at the plate: Truby went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Pitcock got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those three hits gave Truby a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Veschak, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Boone Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Griffith only managed one hit.

Boone Grove now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Griffith, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boone Grove will welcome Morgan Township at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Griffith, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Illiana Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
