Softball Game Preview: Valley Forge Patriots vs. Rocky River Pirates

The Valley Forge Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Rocky River Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses dating back to last season for Valley Forge and three for Rocky River.

Valley Forge lost 26-5 to Lakewood on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Rocky River fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against North Olmsted on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2.

Reagan Kane spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks.

On the hitting side, Rocky River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leigh Konet, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was Konet's first of the season.

Valley Forge's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Rocky River, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
