Basketball Recap: Rocky Boy Takes a Loss

Rocky Boy lost against Fairfield back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rocky Boy Northern Stars fell 65-55 to the Fairfield Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Northern Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Eagles are ranked third).

Fairfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Israel Perez, who went 9-for-19 on his way to 25 points and six boards. Those 25 points gave Perez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Travis Cartwright, who posted six points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Rocky Boy's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Fairfield, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

Rocky Boy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-41 win against Cut Bank on the 15th. As for Fairfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-43 victory against Shelby on the 15th.
