Basketball Recap: Jackson Simmons' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Unicoi County over Tri-Cities Christian

Unicoi County was the 68-65 winner over Tri-Cities Christian when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Unicoi County Blue Devils lost to the Tri-Cities Christian Eagles on the road by a 73-55 margin on Friday.

Unicoi County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Simmons, who went 8-for-13 en route to 17 points. What's more, Simmons also posted a 62% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Kaden Cutlip was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Tri-Cities Christian was led to victory by Lofton Looney and Jordan Peters. Looney posted 15 points, while Peters earned 14 points. Another player making a difference was Christopher Mulumbela, who had ten points.

Unicoi County's defeat dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Tri-Cities Christian, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-11.
