Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson-Morgan Rockets vs. Mapletown Maples

For the second straight game, Jefferson-Morgan will face off against Mapletown. The Rockets will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Maples at 4:00 p.m. Jefferson-Morgan will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Jefferson-Morgan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mapletown a 17-0 shutout on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Brayden Ellsworth made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Jefferson-Morgan is undefeated when Ellsworth allows one or fewer hits, but 4-6 otherwise. Ellsworth was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Jefferson-Morgan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Jefferson-Morgan now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Mapletown, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
