Basketball Recap: Waterford Takes a Loss

Waterford and American Leadership Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Waterford had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 74-46 loss at the hands of the American Leadership Academy Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Ravens in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Waterford lost, don't look at Preston Jenkins. Despite the final result, he posted 25 points. Jenkins continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Julian Cheffings was another key player, putting up seven points.

American Leadership Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tad Swarnes out in front who went 5-for-7 to rack up 15 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Grant Jackson, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 13 points and eight boards.

Waterford now has a losing record of 10-11. As for American Leadership Academy, they pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

Waterford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for American Leadership Academy, they have already played their next game, a 52-48 win against North Sevier on the 20th.
