Softball Recap: West Scranton Takes a Loss

West Scranton was the 10-1 winner over Crestwood when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The West Scranton Invaders fell just short of the Crestwood Comets by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The loss was the Invaders' first of the season.

Kaleiah Connor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, West Scranton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bianca Markovitch, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Markovitch a new career-high in hits.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Scranton fell to 2-1. As for Crestwood, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.

Coming up, West Scranton is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Dunmore at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Crestwood, they will host Honesdale at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
