Basketball Game Preview: New Site Royals vs. Lake Hornets

The New Site Royals and the Lake Hornets will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, New Site was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-40 to Belgreen. While the Royals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 17-13 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, New Site saw an underclassman step up: freshman Bella Green posted 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Green has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Roxy Marshall, who had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lake's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a 56-27 loss at the hands of Morton. The contest marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

New Site's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

New Site came up short against Lake in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, falling 57-48. Can New Site avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
