After a string of six wins, McMichael's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They came up short against the Western Alamance Warriors, falling 3-0. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.

While McMichael was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-14.

When it comes to explaining why McMichael lost, don't look at Emily Smith. Despite the final result, she had 11 digs and three assists. Charlie Tuggle also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Paityn Kehoe was the offensive standout of the game as she had 16 digs. Those 16 digs gave her a new career-high.

McMichael's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Western Alamance, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

McMichael has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against North Stanly on the 13th. As for Western Alamance, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Williams on the 11th.
