Baseball Recap: Wesson Has No Trouble Against Salem

Wesson gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victor by a 14-1 margin over the Salem Wildcats. That looming 14-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cobras yet this season.

Tripp Martin looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wesson is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Wesson got a massive performance out of BP Robbins, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits Robbins has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Cooper Neely, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Wesson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Wesson now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Salem, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Wesson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-4 defeat against Brookhaven on the 13th. As for Salem, they will take on Resurrection Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Resurrection Catholic will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Salem surely won't give up without a fight.
