Baseball Game Preview: Albany Falcons vs. Chatham Panthers

The Albany Falcons will take on the Chatham Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Albany is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk on Monday. They lost 9-2 to the Indians. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Gavin Cramer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Chatham waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Spartans as they made off with an 11-1 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Chatham got a massive performance out of Hunter Kelly, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Kelly has posted since back in April of 2024. Thomas Pierro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI.

Chatham pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Albany, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
