Cody Gasseling Earns League's Top Spot

Starting off the list is East Valley's Cody Gasseling, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Gasseling rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. East Valley is undefeated when Gasseling posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

East Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Gasseling and East Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Grandview's 14-game losing streak dating back to last season is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Nathan Montes De Oca. Montes De Oca turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday, rushing for 160 yards and three touchdowns. Those 160 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Grandview's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. Montes De Oca and Grandview will take on Tri-Cities Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Jacob Rainer's Big Game Leads Prosser over Othello

Prosser found a leader in Jacob Rainer as the team took down Othello on Friday. Nobody could stop Rainer as he rushed for 20 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 181 yards on 16 of 23 attempts.

This season, Rainer has averaged 209.4 passing yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after seven games last season, he had two rushing touchdowns. This year he is already up to 12.

Greyson Stevens Makes It Two for East Valley

The second East Valley player making an appearance here is Greyson Stevens, and for good reason. He picked up 87 receiving yards and a touchdown. He was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 68 yards.

If history really does repeat itself, Stevens might just drop another big game when he faces off against Quincy on Friday. When Stevens last faced the Jackrabbits back in September of 2023, he picked up 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
