Recap: New Richmond Lions vs. Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Blue Jays
The New Richmond Lions were the 49-31 winner over the Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Blue Jays when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. New Richmond fell 43-31 to Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington on Monday. New Richmond's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
New Richmond's loss came despite strong showings from Kiera Kirk and Izzy Hughes. Kirk scored ten points along with nine rebounds and six steals, while Hughes scored eight points along with five rebounds. Hughes is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Even though they lost, New Richmond were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
New Richmond's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
New Richmond will be home for the holidays to greet Shroder Paideia Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shroder Paideia Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
