Softball Recap: Whittier Christian Beats La Serna for Their Third Straight Victory

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Whittier Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the La Serna Lancers, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Heralds, who have now won three matches in a row.

Bobbie Lozano spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rylee Cull, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Whittier Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 15 consecutive contests.

Whittier Christian's record now sits at 19-5. As for La Serna, their record is now 12-7.

Whittier Christian and La Serna should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Heralds will take on Schurr at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (50 vs. 158). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Whittier Christian 2.8, the Spartans 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, La Serna (ranked 88th) will meet Santa Fe (ranked 345th) at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
