Recap: Greene County Tigers vs. Aquinas Fightin' Irish
The Greene County Tigers had to endure a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 63-56 victory over Aquinas on Saturday. Greene County's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Aquinas' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elle Morris, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Morris scored 15 or more points. Elizabeth Elliot was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals.
Even though they lost, Aquinas were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Greene County's win bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Aquinas, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greene County will be home for the holidays to greet Washington-Wilkes at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington-Wilkes has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Aquinas will be home for the holidays to greet Towns County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
