Baseball Recap: Barnwell Comes Up Short

Barnwell dropped their record down to 19-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Andrews Yellowjackets by a score of 10-9. The Warhorses were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

Vinny Gibson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cameron Austin, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Andrews, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.

On Andrews' side, they got a great performance from Reece Barrineau as he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Andrews let Maddux Cooper and Jaxon Baker run wild. Cooper went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Baker got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Baker has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sloan Harper, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

As of now, neither Barnwell nor Andrews have any future games scheduled.
