Softball Game Preview: McNair Eagles vs. Chavez Titans

McNair hasn't had much luck against Chavez recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for McNair's offense. They came up short against Stagg on Thursday, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

McNair saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Naohmi Tapia, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Chavez lost 10-1 to Lincoln on Friday. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McNair's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Chavez, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Chavez's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. McNair has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Chavez, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will McNair keep running through batters, or will the Titans buck the trend?

McNair suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Chavez in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
