Baseball Recap: Washington Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Washington ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Newark Memorial Cougars 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted since April 4th.

Joseph Guerra was excellent, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Washington is undefeated when Guerra posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Joseph Dutra was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Washington now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Newark Memorial, they moved to 14-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Washington will host Amador Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dons have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Newark Memorial, they will welcome Alameda at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
