Soccer Game Preview: Mt. St. Michael Academy vs. Cardinal Spellman

The Mt. St. Michael Academy Mountaineers will head out to square off against the Cardinal Spellman Pilots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. St. Michael Academy has given up an average of 3.2 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mt. St. Michael Academy managed to keep up with St. John's Prep until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Mountaineers lost 6-2 to the Red Storm. The defeat continues a trend for Mt. St. Michael Academy in their meetings with St. John's Prep: they've now lost four in a row.

Cristhian Leon wasn't going to let St. John's Prep walk away unscathed as he scored both of Mt. St. Michael Academy's goals, bringing his season total up to six goals.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Cardinal Spellman's offense. They came up short against St. Joseph-by-the-Sea two weeks ago, falling 8-0.

Cardinal Spellman's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mt. St. Michael Academy, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

Mt. St. Michael Academy beat Cardinal Spellman by a goal in their previous matchup back in September, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountaineers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
