Softball Game Preview: Davenport Wolves vs. Canyon Lake

The Davenport Wolves will head out on the road to challenge Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Davenport's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Canyon Lake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Davenport is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Fredericksburg just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Billies by a score of 9-8.

KINLEY Keller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. KATIE Wash also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Meanwhile, Canyon Lake earned a 10-5 win over Navarro on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Liza Schexnayder, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Fields, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Canyon Lake's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Davenport, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7-1.

Everything went Davenport's way against Canyon Lake when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Davenport made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
