Lynchburg-Clay got themselves on the board against West Union on Thursday, but West Union never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 23-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Christian Flowers made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Flowers was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Lynchburg-Clay got a massive performance out of Cole Wells, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kristian Beachy, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Lynchburg-Clay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Union only posted an OBP of .278.

The win made it two in a row for Lynchburg-Clay and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for West Union, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Lynchburg-Clay didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-1 win against Peebles on the 21st. As for West Union, they have also already played their next game, a 13-1 defeat against Clay on the 19th.
