Recap: Amistad Wolves vs. Ansonia Chargers
On Thursday, Amistad came up short against Ansonia and fell 50-42. While losing is never fun, Amistad can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Ansonia is ranked 30th).
Amistad's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was LaShaya Patterson , who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and six blocks. The contest was Patterson 's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fatema Thomas, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Amistad's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Ansonia, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amistad will finish 2023 at home by hosting Woodstock Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Woodstock Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Ansonia, they will be playing at home against Crosby at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
