Volleyball Game Preview: Maryville Spoofhounds vs. Lafayette County Huskers

The Maryville Spoofhounds will take on the Lafayette County Huskers in a tournament on Saturday. Lafayette County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Maryville, who comes in off a win.

Maryville will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Benton, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Spoofhounds walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals on Thursday.

Charlotte Davison and Evelyn Branner were among the main playmakers for Maryville as the former had five digs and two aces and the latter had six digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Maryville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last seven matches.

Meanwhile, Lafayette County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to Carrollton. Huskers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Trojans since Thursday.

Maryville pushed their record up to 21-7 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lafayette County, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 19-2-2.

Everything went Maryville's way against Lafayette County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Maryville made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Spoofhounds repeat their success, or do the Huskers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
