Baseball Game Preview: Ridgecroft Rams vs. Pungo Christian Academy Raiders

Ridgecroft is 1-9 against Pungo Christian Academy since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Ridgecroft will head out to face off against Pungo Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. Ridgecroft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Ridgecroft will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Albemarle School on Wednesday. Ridgecroft put the hurt on Albemarle School with a sharp 12-4 win. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Jay Gaston, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Lucas Cutchins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, while Pungo Christian Academy put up some runs, the same can't be said for Ridgecroft. Pungo Christian Academy walked away with a 4-0 win over Ridgecroft.

Pungo Christian Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Byrd, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Byrd has become a key player for Pungo Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

Pungo Christian Academy's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4. As for Ridgecroft, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Ridgecroft couldn't quite get it done against Pungo Christian Academy when the teams last played on Monday as they fell 4-0. Can Ridgecroft avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
