Softball Recap: Lynchburg-Clay Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lynchburg-Clay won against Zane Trace on Saturday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Peebles Indians by a score of 7-3. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Noel Barnhill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reese Ruble, who earned two RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Lynchburg-Clay pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Peebles, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lynchburg-Clay beat the Indians by a score of 12-2 on Tuesday.
