Softball Game Preview: Cedar Reds vs. Dixie Flyers

For the second straight game, Cedar will face off against Dixie. The Reds will challenge the Flyers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Cedar heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Dixie by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Reds have suffered since March 20th.

For Dixie's part, Brenlie Phelps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. Phelps has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on PEYTON HATCH, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Morgan Staheli was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Dixie's win bumped their record up to 18-10. As for Cedar, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12.
