Softball Recap: Sabetha Extends Road Winning Streak to Six

Sabetha entered their tilt with Hiawatha on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Red Hawks by a score of 8-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-1 on Thursday.

Sophia Haverkamp was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Kiera Keim was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sabetha kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Sabetha pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Hiawatha, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sabetha is set to square off against their familiar foe Jefferson West at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Hiawatha will challenge rival Perry-Lecompton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
