Baseball Game Preview: Northwood Chargers vs. Chapel Hill Tigers

The Northwood Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Chapel Hill Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

On Tuesday, everything went Northwood's way against Bartlett Yancey as Northwood made off with a 13-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Meanwhile, Chapel Hill had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They never let the Unicorns get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

David Campos was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Tyler Oliaro also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Chapel Hill's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Northwood, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Northwood skirted past Chapel Hill 4-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwood since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
