Baseball Recap: Pembroke Pines Charter Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Pembroke Pines Charter duked it out with Mater Academy Charter on Friday. The Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars fell just short of the Mater Academy Charter Lions by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Jaguars have lost by just one run.

Brady Mongera made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

This is the second loss in a row for Pembroke Pines Charter and nudges their season record down to 6-6-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Mater Academy Charter, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Pembroke Pines Charter will host NSU University at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Pembroke Pines Charter 3.5, NSU University 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Mater Academy Charter, they have already played their next match, a 5-4 win against South Dade on the 18th.
