Basketball Recap: Aubrey Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead David Emanuel Academy over John Hancock Academy

David Emanuel Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the John Hancock Academy Rebels. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aubrey Williams, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Emily McRae was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Even though they lost, David Emanuel Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups.

David Emanuel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for John Hancock Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Thomas Jefferson Academy the next time they take the court. David Emanuel Academy will host Thomas Jefferson Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while John Hancock Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
