Flag Football Recap: Castle Park Takes a Loss

Castle Park fell victim to San Ysidro and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Cougars, falling 32-0. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Trojans, who until this matchup were averaging 9.22 points allowed.

Even if they lost, Castle Park's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by KARLA MEZA and SAVANNAH MARKS, who racked up all five sacks between them. MEZA is crushing it when it comes to sacks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the field this season.

Vida Sanchez had another great game (as she tends to do), rushing for 94 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 241 yards and one TD while completing 83.3% of her passes for San Ysidro. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Sanchez a new career-high. Kristine Fadriquela was Sanchez's top target, picking up 92 receiving yards and one score.

This is the second loss in a row for Castle Park and nudges their season record down to 7-2. As for San Ysidro, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Castle Park has already played their next contest, a 7-6 victory against Southwest SD on the 23rd. As for San Ysidro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 56-0 win against Monte Vista on the 18th.
