Soccer Game Preview: Catalina vs. Thatcher

The Catalina Trojans will square off against the Thatcher Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Catalina is headed into Friday's following a draw, the team's first since November 26. They and Empire finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Thatcher was not the first on the board last Wednesday, but they got there more often. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Tanque Verde 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Thatcher's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. With that draw, Catalina's record moves to 5-2-2.

Catalina came up short against Thatcher in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, falling 5-3. Can Catalina avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
