Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Alamance Eagles vs. Orange Panthers

Two dominant guards in Aliya Trollinger and Evelyn George are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Eastern Alamance Eagles will take on the Orange Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Tuesday, everything came up roses for Eastern Alamance against Southern Alamance as the team secured a 72-27 victory. The Eagles pushed the score to 53-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had no chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Orange over Southern Alamance in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Orange blew Southern Alamance out of the water with a 56-17 final score. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Eastern Alamance better keep an eye on George. She was instrumental in Orange's win, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. George also grabbed eight steals, which is notable because Orange is 11-3 when she posts at least three steals, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lily Wilson, who posted 12 points.

Orange smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive games.

Eastern Alamance has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points over those games. As for Orange, their record is now 14-8.

Eastern Alamance came out on top in a nail-biter against Orange when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 37-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern Alamance since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
