Football Recap: McLane Highlanders vs. Avenal Buccaneers

McLane had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 40-7 victory over the Avenal Buccaneers on the road.

Noah Zamora had a dynamite game for McLane, throwing for 285 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per attempt, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Jazz Boyland was another key player, rushing for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to McLane's defense and their seven sacks. Leading the way was Greg Ramirez and his 3.5. Juan Raygoza was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making five total tackles (3.0 for loss).

McLane will have plenty of time to enjoy the win as they don't play again for a while. They'll take on Mendota at 7:30 p.m. on September 6th. As for Avenal, they will challenge Strathmore at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Avenal is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
