Baseball Game Preview: West Mesa Mustangs vs. Santa Fe Demons

The West Mesa Mustangs will take on the Santa Fe Demons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

West Mesa couldn't beat Atrisco Heritage Academy on Friday even though they stacked six runs on them in the first inning. The Mustangs lost 16-6 to the Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered against the Jaguars since April 17, 2018.

West Mesa saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against La Cueva, falling 12-0.

Santa Fe's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for West Mesa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

West Mesa beat Santa Fe 7-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2015. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Demons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
