Softball Recap: Charlotte Latin Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Charlotte Latin put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Mountain Island Charter Raptors 14-2. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sydney Thune was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Thune was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Thune is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Charlotte Latin let Caroline Coble and Lila McConnell run wild. Coble scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3, while McConnell went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Coble is also crushing it when it comes to hits: she's got at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Avery Bly was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Charlotte Latin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Charlotte Latin's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Mountain Island Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Charlotte Latin will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Greater Cabarrus S at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mountain Island Charter, they will square off against Legion Collegiate Academy at 5:00 p.m. on March 6th.
