Basketball Game Preview: Temple Christian Pioneers vs. Calvary Christian Spartans

The Temple Christian Pioneers will take on the Calvary Christian Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Temple Christian earned a 56-47 win over Riverside. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pioneers.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Calvary Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. Everything went their way against Ansonia on Saturday as Calvary Christian made off with a 58-37 victory. The Spartans pushed the score to 44-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Calvary Christian's win came from a few key players Temple Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Christian Rogan, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 16 points and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeeke Wylie, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Temple Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Calvary Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.

Temple Christian skirted past Calvary Christian 46-43 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Will Temple Christian repeat their success, or does Calvary Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
