Basketball Game Preview: New Underwood Tigers vs. Philip Scotties

The New Underwood Tigers will take on the Philip Scotties at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

New Underwood easily dispatched Moorcroft on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. New Underwood fell just short of Edgemont by a score of 29-26 on Saturday. The Tigers have struggled against the Moguls recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Philip hadn't done well against Hill City recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. Philip came out on top against Hill City by a score of 58-47.

New Underwood better keep an eye on Drew Terkildsen. She was instrumental in Philip's win, going 7 for 17 on her way to 19 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Terkildsen is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Josie Jones, who posted ten points and five boards.

Philip is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for New Underwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

New Underwood was dealt a bruising 48-14 loss at the hands of Philip when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can New Underwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
