Softball Recap: Iota Beats Acadiana for Their 11th Straight Win

Iota had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Acadiana Rams by a score of 11-6. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered an 11-10 loss the last time these two teams met.

Saige Cherry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Haydyn Schexnayder was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Charli Sonnier was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Schexnayder wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Iota lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Iota pushed their record up to 27-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Acadiana, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-12.

As of now, neither Iota nor the Rams have any future games scheduled.
