Softball Recap: Overton Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Overton barely beat Harleton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Overton's pitcher stepped up to hand Harleton a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Skyler Colvin and Chelsea Jordan did most of the damage at the plate: Colvin went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Jordan went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Colvin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasha Williams, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Overton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

Overton's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Harleton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Overton will take on Waskom at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Overton is facing Waskom at the right time seeing as Waskom is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Harleton, they will challenge Ore City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ore City will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
