Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Common Eagles vs. Stargate School Eagles

The Liberty Common Eagles will square off against the Stargate School Eagles at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Liberty Common took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They slipped by Loveland Classical 36-35.

Liberty Common relied on the efforts of Emily Geyser, who posted 14 points, and Meghan Perschau, who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, Stargate School had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Thornton with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 41-27.

Stargate School's win came from a few key players Liberty Common will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Soonjin Yoon, who had ten points along with eight steals and five boards. Ava Ridgell was another key player, putting up four points along with six rebounds, five assists, and five steals.

Stargate School was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Stargate School's victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6. As for Liberty Common, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Liberty Common against Stargate School in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, as the team secured a 54-27 win. Will Liberty Common repeat their success, or does Stargate School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
