The Silver Knights blew past Big Bear 17-2 on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Silver Knights, who have now won three games in a row.

Meeka Martinez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four). Another player making a difference was Makayla Bustos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Riverside Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Excelsior Charter made easy work of Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy on Thursday and carried off a 16-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy: they've now won four in a row.
Rylie Hunsaker was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Excelsior Charter got a massive performance out of Samantha Minghelli, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Tristen Gonzalez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Excelsior Charter's win bumped their record up to 11-8-1. As for Riverside Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
Excelsior Charter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riverside Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Excelsior Charter, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Riverside Prep's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Riverside Prep took their win against Excelsior Charter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4 score. Will the Silver Knights repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
