Recap: Northeastern Eagles vs. Currituck County Knights

The Northeastern Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Currituck County 49-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.

Tyselle Spencer had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 280 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Spencer hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for eight straight games. Devaughan Bell was another key contributor, rushing for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Despite the defeat, Currituck County had strong showings from Devin Duke, who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and Damon Duke, who picked up 193 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Northeastern's victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. As for Currituck County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeastern will face off against Pasquotank County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pasquotank County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Northeastern is ranked 71st). As for Currituck County, they will head out on the road to face off against First Flight at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
