Softball Recap: Sandalwood Drops Highest Score of Season Against Englewood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sandalwood). They never let the Englewood Rams get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.

Sydney Gwinn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gwinn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 1-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sandalwood got a massive performance out of Madison Seprish, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs Seprish has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emmie Dawley, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Sandalwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive games.

Sandalwood's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Englewood, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sandalwood will head out to take on Andrew Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sandalwood is facing Andrew Jackson at the right time seeing as Andrew Jackson is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Englewood, they will head out on the road to square off against Raines at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
