Softball Game Preview: Hemphill Hornets vs. Groveton Indians

The Hemphill Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Groveton Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hemphill has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Groveton will arrive with four straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Hemphill didn't have quite enough to beat Corrigan-Camden and fell 5-4.

Meanwhile, Groveton posted their closest victory since March 2, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past Corrigan-Camden 7-6.

Groveton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Hemphill, they now have a losing record of 9-10-1.

Hemphill beat Groveton 5-1 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Hemphill repeat their success, or does Groveton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
