Basketball Recap: Lakeland Christian Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Southern Wells

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeland Christian Academy). They strolled past the Southern Wells Raiders with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 71-52. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on three straight.

Leading Lakeland Christian Academy to victory were Micah Martin and Josiah Rice. Martin posted 32 points, while Rice scored 22 points. With that strong performance, Martin is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Johnson, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 21 points and three steals. Cj Reber was another key player, going 6 of 11 en route to 13 points.

Lakeland Christian Academy's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Southern Wells, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Lakeland Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-47 win against Granger Christian on the 4th. As for Southern Wells, they will host Jay County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southern Wells has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
