Baseball Recap: Nampa Christian Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

With a playoff win on the line, Nampa Christian rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Firth Cougars with a sharp 10-0 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Kaden Mullins and Jack Ihli made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Mullins pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ihli pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mullins went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Ihli went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Ihli has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Coleson Mensonides, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Pete Dice, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Nampa Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Nampa Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Firth, their loss dropped their record down to 19-7.

Firth has already played their next game, a 10-9 win against Challis on the 10th. Hopefully Nampa Christian paid attention to the Cougars' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
