Game recap: Pike County high school football team picks up early lead in victory over Southwest

Pike County (Zebulon, Ga.) jumped out to an early lead against Southwest (Macon, Ga.) and never looked back on the way to a 28-14 victory on Saturday.

The Pirates scored seven points in the first quarter. Pike County scored on a Tyler Gregory touchdown run.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Gregory in the first quarter, PC led 14-0 at the half.

The Zebulon school expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. The Pirates' lone score in the quarter came on a Tra Tyalor touchdown run.

Pike County's most effective player was Gregory. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.



PC came in allowing an average of 27.5 points per game this season.

A 41-0 Pike County victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

In a AAA Region 2 game next week Pike County (4-3) takes on Peach County, and Southwest (1-6) will go up against Carver also in a AAA Region 2 game.
